QR Code Size: How Small Can You Print It?

Find out whether your code will scan at the size you print it, before it goes to the printer.

QRStuff recommends at least 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 inches) for close-range scanning, and a 10:1 rule for distance: scanned from 3 meters away, a code should be at least 30 cm wide. Codes that hold more data have smaller squares, so they need more room than that. (Source: qrstuff.com homepage FAQ, checked 8 Oct 2026.)

FAQ

Why does my code look crowded?

It holds a lot of data. A dynamic code holds a short link instead, so the code stays simple.

Does a logo make it harder to scan?

It can. We make logos smaller on dense codes.

How do I test my QR code before printing?

You don't need a drawer full of phones. We read every design back the way a phone camera would, at several sizes, and flag it before you download if it may not scan.
